A Siren's Prayer is an original musical about a trio of sirens whose community has spent generations luring sailors to their death. That is until one sailor unexpectedly survives a shipwreck and washes up on their island. His presence begins to unravel a legacy of fear and vengeance, forcing both sirens and sailors to confront the stories they've inherited. Through music and movement, the piece explores how healing can break cycles of harm and open the door to collective liberation.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

Rungo (25--35)

A charismatic but cunning sailor who survives an encounter that should have killed him. He struggles to make sense of the cards he's been dealt in life, but he still manages to navigate his circumstances with both courage and caution. Strong singer with emotional vulnerability and warmth.

Black men strongly encouraged to submit.

The Captain (40--60)

Charismatic, sly, and always a few steps ahead. This captain carries the charm of a man who knows how to win trust with ease. He is quick with a smile, a joke, or a story from the sea. Beneath the warmth is a cunning survivor with secrets of his own, including the truth about the ship he commands. Looking for a performer with strong stage presence, comic timing, and a bit of Jack Sparrow energy. Strong singer with a unique, colorful tone.

Black men strongly encouraged to submit.

Pirate / Crew Members (20--40)

Rugged sailors who are sometimes playful, sometimes threatening, but always loyal to the pirate creed. Performers should be comfortable with ensemble storytelling and movement. Singing required.

Black men strongly encouraged to submit.

The Ocean (Dancers), (20--40)

Contemporary dancers who embody the living presence of the sea. At times calm and mesmerizing, at times powerful and overwhelming. Dancers will help amplify the impact of each song by exemplifying how nature shapes and guides the storyline. Strong background in contemporary or modern movement preferred.

Black performers strongly encouraged to submit.
